About Operation Fear Liberation

Operation Fear Liberation (OFL) is the silly name I've given to my year-long quest to do something new each week in order to gain more skill and confidence in facing my fears of the new, the difficult, and the unknown.  In addition to committing to OFL for all 52 weeks of 2012, I have also begun Cycle 2 of my 2011 year-long challenge, Operation Consumption Liberation (OCL). My blog, Operation: Liberation!, follows my experiences, adventures, trials, and reflections for both OFL and OCL challenges.

OFL in a nutshell: I hope that by making a weekly practice of stepping outside of my comfort zone, I will open myself up to greater growth and success in every sphere of my personal and professional life.  The new things I’ll be doing are all things that I want to do, but that I’ve put off due to fear or because I have been waiting for the “right” circumstances to arise (the right weather, the right finances, the right significant other, and so on).

I've brainstormed a long list of things I've never done before to refer to if I'm struggling to find something new to do for any week this year.  I do not have check every item off that list, nor am I restricted to items on that list.  I will post snapshots of each week's new thing done to look at: why I put this new activity on my list; my previously-held reservations and hang ups about said activity; the "when, where, and how?" I did the activity; a summary of my experience; and my final takeaway post-activity.  Also, a week-by-week list of the new things I've done thus far can be found here.

No more excuses or delays: the right time to face my fears is now!
